Become a life member for just $10 see the Caretaker

Set in the hills on the southern side of Mt Wheeler. All weather road access via two-wheel drive and only 30 minutes from Rockhampton.

Cockscomb provides a quiet place away from the city, a relaxing place to go when you want to get away and get back to some basic living and quiet quality time.

When staying overnight, you will require your sleeping bag, camp stretcher, swag or hammock if you intend to sleep outside and a torch, matches, food and a rubbish bag, mosquito repellent and your medication.

Cockscomb is not a Caravan Park, there is no reticulated power or water and No Dump Point

Sign the visitors book, ask the caretaker about camp standing orders and make a donation to help keep the running costs down.

Clean up after staying we ask you to clean up any rubbish and ask the caretaker where you should deposit it.

The main Kitchen use is restricted in that when there is a function on only the camp cook has access. It means also that food stored in the refrigerators may need to be removed to eskys.

Cooking can either be done on an open fire in the Safe fire pits below the Hasty Tasty kitchen depending on Open Fire Restrictions at the time. You can use the main camp kitchen which has some restrictions see above

The amenities provide hot shower water 24 hours of the day.

When function and diners are booked NO unleashed DOGs are allowed in the function area and the kitchen. Queensland Animals in food premises

Clean up all areas used, ie; the kitchen and the toilet / shower facilities you may have used before you leave.

Fixed accommodation is provided in Uc Dai Loi House a Log Cabin and Andawakey cabin for overnight stays. 4 single beds in each.
There is also a 5 single bedroom Donga close to the amenities (Shown on the left)

Electricity The installation of fixed mains electricity supply from Ergon supplements our Solar system and batteries. 240volts AC is installed in all buildings on the site. Digital LED lighting and other services are installed to bring the site up to a new standard for safety. If you have a CPAP, every bed has a double 240V AC power point

Both Bore and Tank Water is a available and stored in bulk storage 15,900 litre poly tanks and various smaller poly tanks. This water is tested regularly

There is 4G digital mobile phone access in some areas on the site, you need to walk around to get a signal.

Eating areas with various tables and chairs are available and there are plenty of log seats to sit on.

The 5 bedroom unit was picked up and turned around and placed on the foundations by Comiskey Mining Services

along with JAK Heavy Diesel helping out, they had a large bobcat cleaning up for us also they organised the

crane, a 60 tonner from QWEST Cranes who provided the crane for no charge. Many Thanks to all concerned for a job well done.
